Readings by Sally Perel, Marcin Szczygielski und Goran Vojnović

As part of the series Films & Books, three writers will come to Vienna to present their work in person. The famous Polish author Marcin Szczygielski will give a reading from his newest book Ark of Time (German: Flügel aus Papier, Polish: Arka Czasu) on 6^th October at the Main Library in Vienna. The book was published recently in German and has already won several prizes and received highly favorable reviews. The German paperSüddeutsche Zeitung, wrote that Ark of Time is a very, “touching and intense novel” and Frankfurter Rundschau, said that the wings of paper, which provided the German title to the book, are the wings on which children and adults can fly away. On 4^th of October Szczygielski will present his books for adults, and on 10^th October he will read from his books for children and adolescents, both times at the Beach bar (Strandbar) Herrmann. In addition to the readings by Marcin Szczygielski, LET’S CEE, in cooperation with ViVaVostok – literature for children and teenagers from Central and East Europe andtheLibraries of Vienna, will host a reading with Goran Vojnović. This young Slovenian author and director is seen as a shooting star and will present his award-winning book Southern Scum Go Home (German: Chefurs Raus!, Slovene:Čefurji raus!) on 9^th October in the Library Philadelphiabrücke, for one hour. On the same day the film of the same title will also be shown at the Actor’s Studio. Last but far from least – we are pleased that Holocaust survivor Sally Perel from Israel will have already presented his moving autobiography I Was Hitler Youth Salomon on 2^nd October at the main library Hauptbücherei Wien. Perel will also be available to answer questions from guests in an intimate atmosphere. A unique opportunity!
