The ‘Urania’ is a 36 centimetres-high cast aluminium statuette with very female forms designed by exceptional artist Tone Fink – together with a financial reward, the Urania is awarded to the winners of the LET’S CEE Film Festival’s FEATURE FILM COMPETITION, DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION and the SHORT FILM COMPETITION, who are determined by the jury. Viennese film producer and culture manager Robert Hofferer had the idea for this award as well as for the Star of the Urania award, a very elaborate, heavy and valuable unique piece made of crystal, which is awarded to an extraordinary personality from the film industry for their lifetime achievement by the festival organisation once a year. But not only that: Hofferer and his company Artdeluxe will be sponsoring all official awards for the third consecutive year - the three Urania Awards for the winners of the respective competitions as well as the financial rewards, and the Star of the Urania award are sponsored exclusively by Robert Hofferer. In addition to that, he is also sponsoring the Short Film Competition with a very formidable sum. Hofferer: “I know from my professional experience what great untapped creative and economic potential lies hidden in Central and Eastern Europe in terms of film. Providing it with an adequate platform is an act of great importance, acknowledgment, insight and vision.
As in the previous years, the winner of the SHORT FILM COMPETITION’s audience award will again be sent to the CINERGIA festival in Łodź by Vienna International Hotels & Resorts; there he or she can spend seven nights at the andel’s Hotel as an Artist in Residence, present the winning film of the LET'S CEE Film Festival and visit the world-famous film shool. The travel expenses will be covered by the Polish Embassy in Vienna.
Another new feature: All participants who receive an honourable mention by the jury in either of the three competitions will receive a Nick van Hill watch from LE CLOU.
