Anti War Movie-Classics

2014 marks the 100th anniversary of World War I and the 75th anniversary of World War II. For this occasion, Branko Lustig has curated and ANTI-WAR FILM RETROSPECTIVE for the LET’S CEE Film Festival. The selected films - SUNSHINE by István Szabó, DON'T LOOK BACK MY SON by Branko Bauer and THE TIN DRUM by Volker Schlöndorff - are meant to both remind us of the crimes of the past as well as send a clear signal against violence, fascism, racism and discrimination.

The two-time Academy Award winner and surviver of the Holocaust will also discuss the challenges of preserving a continuous culture of remembrance in a conversation with Oliver Rathkolb, hosted by the editor-in-chief of Der Standard, Alexandra Föderl-Schmid. This opportunity will also be used to introduce the Shoah Foundation, founded in 1994 by Steven Spielberg in cooperation with Branko Lustig, Karen Kushell and Gerald R. Molen - the biggest collection of multimedia sources of Holocaust survivors in the world - and to show the short film GAMES, filmed at the Festival of Tolerance in Zagreb.
