Anent the 20th anniversary of the film Schindler's List, on September 15th, Branko Lustig was awarded for the Lifetime Achievement at the LET'S CEE film festival in Vienna. Steven Spielberg, who directed the film, sent a personal congratulation to Branko Lustig. He pointed out that there are no such words to describe how much Branko Lustig contributed to the film as a producer. Drawing the strenght and credibility from his own personal experience which makes Lustig more than just a film producer, besides congratulating him, Spielberg said he was fortunate to meet him, to be his colleague, and to have the honour to call him a friend.
Branko Lustig commented that is nice to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award exactly on the 20th anniversary of "Schindler's List", which marked his life. However, every following year is important because we must constantly work on promoting the values of the tolerant society. Lustig is truly moved by Steven Spielberg's congratulation, and he is glad that there are still people who understand the real meaning of the word friendship.
