All the Best is a serious comedy about the pursuit of happiness. Snježana Tribuson’s film, which has already won several awards, tells the stories of the confectioner Verica, the opera singer Brankica and the Spaniard Martin. All three live lonely lives, full of longing for romance and love, even more so since the story takes place during Christmas. Fate has decided that their paths should cross and that everything should change. We also get to know numerous colorful characters: two nurses who think a lot about men: a farmer with unusual agricultural talents; a craftsman who admires beautiful women; and a sick woman who hides her sexual orientation from her sister. The gentle drama enchants with a lovable ensemble of protagonists and the remarkable proposition that there is always someone looking out for us. Ksenija Marinković, outstanding in the role of the confectioner, demonstrates over the course of one hundred minutes, what it means to love, to lose, and to find happiness. It might seem unlikely that cockroaches, beet soup and an opera aria can play an important role in one and the same story, but that is actually the case in this entertaining movie.
