The Croatian government is once again short of cash and has to save money. This time, twenty years after the end of the Balkan War, it casts its eye on the pensions of the widows of fallen soldiers. The plan: All widows, who haven’t yet remarried, but are found to be in a relationship, should henceforth lose their military pension. For this reason, the so-called Ministry of Love is founded, and its employees have to collect usable information about those who violate the new law. Krešo, a middle-aged, unemployed and unhappily married biologist, gets a position in this new department with the help of his father-in-law. And now, together with his eccentric colleague Šikić, he must solve relevant cases. But their first assignment already shows that he is completely the wrong person for this job. When Krešo at last falls in love with one of the widows, things get even more complicated. Through this lively film, Director Pavo Marinković, who also wrote the script, excels in demonstrating the moral conflict of the protagonist, torn between success and justice. This absurd and razor-sharp comedy is accentuated by the magnificent performances of the cast.
