Synopsis

Lecturers: Matej Mináč and Zuzana Mináčová. Matej Mináč is a Slovak author, producer and director, whose films were already sold to 60 countries and screened at over 320 international film festivals, where he won more than 70 awards for them. For the second part of his trilogy about British Sir Nicholas Winton, who saved hundreds of children from the Nazis, Mináč received an Emmy Award. At LET’S CEE, he will present his newest documentary Through the Eyes of the Photographer about his mother Zuzana Mináčová. The famous photographer will also be available for questions after the film screening and the Master Class.

Content: Quite often it is minor details that decide whether a film works out fine or not. This especially applies to documentaries as well as to films focusing on people and their personal fate. Directors who know their protagonists well can have a huge advantage. Matej Mináč never planned on doing a film about his mother. But it happened anyway. How it came about, he will tell in his Master Class, where he will further describe the backgrounds of his internationally acclaimed production and reveal what really is important when creating a film portrait.

Screening: 24 March, 11am, Village Cinema. Through the Eyes of the Photographer (CZE/SVK 2015, 84 min., Slovak, English with Engl. sub.)

Admission: The regular admission to the LET’S CEE Master Classes is 35 Euro; students and holders of respective cards (Cineplexx Bonus Card, EYCA, oetCard, ÖAMTC and Wien Energie Fernwärme Servicecard) and of festival passes as well as accredited press and industry representatives pay only 25 Euro (pre-sale: 30/20 Euro). The price for this Master Class includes also a ticket to the film Through the Eyes of the Photographer (the screening is recommended but not obligatory).
