Hoping for a positive future, Johannes transfers to an elite school in the city. However, the sensitive and restless boy's dream of social advancement soon gets crushed there. The other kids at his new school become more and more violent towards him and make sure he knows from his very first day on where they think his place in the hierarchy is: at the bottom. Depressed and discouraged, the teenager turns back to his old friends, a bunch of partying drug-addicted petty criminals. There are no prospects of improvement: His mother's worsening schizophrenia, which gives the whole family sleepless nights, renders the already immense pressure on the boy's shoulders almost unbearable. Johannes' life continues steadily downhill until he suddenly finds himself covered in blood on a balcony and at the absolute zero point. Based on Margus Karu's semi-autobiographical Estonian bestseller, director Mihkel Ulk has created a compelling drama. He shows a cruel world where extreme mobbing among adolescents is part of everyday life and leads to adjustment disorders, low self-esteem and a desperate search for approval.
