Synopsis

Nebošja, Borisa, Radomir and Aleksandar have a vision. They want to help basketball to achieve its breakthrough in Europe. After founding the first basketball team of Yugoslavia, the pioneers are a step closer to their dream. Only a few years later the Yugoslavian team even qualifies for the world championship of 1970. That’s when Nebošja, Borisa, Radomir and Aleksandar practcally arrive at the Olymp of basketball, where the American team, a seemingly overly powerful opponent awaits them. The four men, their team and Yugoslavia face probably one of the biggest sporting challenges of their lives: will they be able to land the title and win the gold medal? We will be the world champions addresses the developement and commitment of people that live and fight for a great dream together. With his film, the Serbian director, Darko Bajić commits to the true story of the four founders of Yugoslavian basketball. While remaining as athentic as possible, he tries to not only live up to the historically valuable characters but also to the compexity of the plot. The result is a captivating biography about dreams, sports and team spirit that delights the audience with its humour and sentiment.
