Synopsis

This documentary film shows the post-avant-garde Slovenian cult band Laibach on their fourth great tour across the USA in 2004. Award-winning film maker Sašo Podgoršek was in charge of directing. At that time, immediately after the presidential elections during which Republican incumbent George W. Bush had proved himself against the Democratic challenger John Kerry, the two ideological parties were opposing each other irreconcilably in the United States. In the light of this tense atmosphere, Laibach played 15 concerts. Once again the Slovenians lived up to their name of being a brilliant live act. However, they did also level harsh criticism at the States’ political system – not all that unexpectedly bold, polemical and with a mixture of cynicism and sarcasm. The documentary is somewhat a collage of concert recordings, interviews with the audience, written statements of the bands and comments by the main ideologist of the band, Ivo Novak, fading in, and a lot more. It’s not surprising that most Laibach fans are not really admiring George W. Bush at the same time. Many voices discuss their homeland critically. However, it can also be heard that America should actively protect itself, think in new ways and act. A must for fans!
