Hungary during World War II: three Jewish sisters are living with a physician in his apartment, eating, laughing and reciting poems. One day a party official of the anti-Semitic Arrow Cross Party shows up at the apartment. The doctor displays courage and hides the three women while examining the unannounced visitor. Every gesture of leading actor Tibor Szervét reveals insecurity and fear. By protecting the women he puts his own life at risk. However, there is no room for love in this world, obviously, and the heroic humanist turns out to be a beast after all. Attila Hartungs nerve-wracking chamber drama tells a story of the dynamics of power and powerlessness in everyday life under a fascist regime. What remains in the end is nothing but annihilation.
