Since Nikola is a representative of the newly established and independent Macedonia (of the 1990s), he’s not supposed to miss the festivities for the national holiday. Unfortunately it is dated on the same day as the 10-year wedding anniversary of Nikola and his wife Ana. When Nikola doesn’t pay regard to Ana at the reception, tension between them arises. Eventually this friction escalates at home: The excessive amount of alcohol in their veins, the impounded frustration of all the former 10 years of marriage and the fact, that Nikola forgot about their anniversary lead to an intense argument between the two of them. As if that wasn't enough, many signs of Nikola being monitored pile up in that night. Is he just paranoid or is he really being in danger? After all a minister, who worked closely with Nikola, got imprisoned recently. Honey Night takes place in just one night, in which the married couple is forced to clear their past and plan their future. The director of the film Ivo Trajkov was inspired by the story of The Ear by the Czech scriptwriter Jan Procházka. Power and the abuse of power, both political and privat, play a central role in this tremendously suspenseful political thriller, which surprises with unexpected twists.
