You can't always get what you want. Aaron learns this unfortunate fact first-hand when his wonderful girlfriend Eszter leaves him. Moreover all his attempts at finding a job lead to nothing. Neither does he succeed in coming up to the parents’ expectations. Vivid memories of the lost love are especially hard to handle and totally bring him down. On the occasion of his thirtieth birthday Aaron suggests a traditional night of booze party in Budapest with friends. Next day he wakes up with a ticket to Lisbon at hand. Still intoxicated and surprised of his own actions the protagonist finally decides to put an offhand plan into action and actually go on the journey, even though it is not quite clear where exactly the journey should take him. From that moment on Aaron’s life changes drastically as he slowly regains good humor, learning to embrace the happiness of new experiences. This directorial debut of Gábor Reisz tells about an eccentric character that experiences certain issues with life, love and social conventions, and eventually finds a peculiar way of dealing with these and other problems of the adult world. Being sincere and unconventional, also occasionally whimsical and extravagant, this tragicomedy from Hungary bears some resemblance to Woody Allen movies.
