Iva and Marija, a lesbian couple, move into a flat in a working class neighbourhood in Zagreb. They are welcomed warmly and at fist the multi-family house seems to be a quiet and safe enviroment. Soon, however, the women learn how wrong they were in their assessment of their neighbours. Olga, their landlady turns out to be a nosey tyrant, the ex-soldier a wife-beater and the gynaecologist to be carrying out illegeal abortions in his flat. Also there is Lidija, a prostitute, who is paid by Marija’s father, to seduce his daughter and thus destroy her relationship with Iva. Marija’s father in turn, still a very conservative and religious man, a widower, can’t part from his deceased wife’s mummified corpse. And then there are violent fascist skinheads and Olga’s son, who despite of his homophobia, falls for Iva. When Iva turns him down harshly, and Olga finds out that Iva and Marija are a couple, the situtation spirals completely out of control. Rape, kidnapping and murder follow. This fast-paced and partly brutally blunt Croatian production, shot in film Noir style, is a provocative plea against narrow-minded intolerance, that well captivates its audience with its morbid sense of humour.
