The hunchbacked man looks like an archetypal gravedigger of a Western movie, the woman’s hair is reminiscent of Medusa. He feeds her voracious snakes lovingly with a living fly. In this bizarre yet affectionate animated film we meet a happy loving couple – both of which seem, however, like monsters to us. On their walk through the town it becomes obvious that they are the laughing stock of the people, with dogs barking at them, children laughing at them and people throwing stones at them. There is no room here for misfits, especially not for a couple of them. Could adaptation be the solution? They dress up in order not to attract attention, but in concealing their identities, more bad things happen to them.
