Alexandru spends his 42nd birthday drunk and home alone. His wife Ioana died in a road accident a couple of weeks before. Suddenly, Alexandru hears someone ringing at his door, and when he answers, a delicate young man named Sebastian faces him. He confesses that he has been Ioana’s lover for the past few months. Alexandru’s first surprised reaction is to knock down his rival. However, he afterwards invites the poor guy into his flat. But that’s not all: Sebastian candidly asks Alexandru to comfort him, since he cannot deal with the pain of Ioana’s death on his own. Initially, Alexandru is left speechless and is obviously anything but pleased about this request. But gradually, slowly and cautiously, a relationship evolves between these two very different men, as only rarely seen in cinema. Whoever claims that no new stories can be told anymore, is proven wrong by director and screenwriter Andrei Creţulescu. He turns the unusual initial situation into a clever contemplation of love, friendship, loss and pain, but also about the perception men have of themselves and each other. An elegant parable in subdued colours, made in Bucharest.
